Wedding dresses

Here is one picture of us taken just before the wedding ceremony started. Almost all seams and everything else is hand made. The fabric is cotton velvet (both the dress and the robe) and the pattern or the fabric is same. I bought the velvet from Renaissance Fabrics. The silk decoration in my dress is hand dyed with onion peelings. My smock is very thin linen and it is smocked front and behind. I wear a wulsthaube and the veil is decorated with three blackwork stripes. The veil is middle back long and the stripes goes all the way from the forehead to the end of the veil. UlfR has ankle long white linen shirt with blackwork decorations. UlfR’s robe is also ankle long and the lining is black taffeta silk.

The inspiration was Mary of Hapsburg’s dress and King Lajos’s wedding robe both around from 1520.

If I get some other nice pictures, for example behind me and UlfR I will put them here… but I haven’t yet seen all the photos :D .

Tässä yksi kuva meistä juuri ennen vihkiseremonian alkamista. Melkein kaikki saumat ja ompelukset on tehty käsin. Kangas on puuvilla samettia (sekä mekossa että Uffen kaavussa) ja kankaiden kuviointi on sama. Ostin kankaat Renaissance Fabricsilta. Puvussani oleva silkki on värjätty sipulinkuorilla. Aluspaitani on hyvin ohutta pellavaa ja se on smokattu edestä ja takaa. Päässäni on saksalaistyyppinen wulsthaube päähine renessanssin ajalta ja hunnussa on kolme mustakirjonta raitaa. Huntu on puoleen selkään pitkä ja hunnun raidat kulkevat otsalta selkään. Uffella on nilkkapituinen paita, jossa on mustakirjonta koristeita. Uffen kaapu on myös nilkkapituinen ja se on vuorattu mustalla taftilla.

Inspiraation lähteenä toimi Mary of Hapsburgin häämekko ja kuningas Lajoksen hääkaapu, molemmat suunnilleen 1520 luvulta.
